GreenMove focuses on optimizing robot motion patterns. Using ABB’s simulation environment, RobotStudio, we analyze and optimize robot movements with energy efficiency in mind, reducing energy consumption without compromising performance.

Working with simulations in RobotStudio is something we’ve been doing for more than 15 years. What has changed is the purpose of the optimization and the goal we’re working toward. In our fastest applications, we’ve always simulated robot movements to ensure reach and cycle time. In applications where robots have had more time, simulation and optimization have often not been necessary.
Today, our customers can choose the GreenMove option for these robots. In that case, motion optimization is carried out with a clear focus on minimizing energy consumption. When you observe an optimized robot in motion, its movements are smooth and well balanced in speed – you can see how the robot almost “flows” through its work cycle.
The primary driver is reduced energy consumption, but a very positive side effect is reduced mechanical wear on the robot. Gearboxes, motors, and other mechanical components simply last longer, which in turn increases the overall sustainability and lifespan of the system.
