We divide our sustainability work into footprint and handprint. This helps us see sustainability as a mindset and a way of working that runs through everything we offer – not just a written policy.
We continuously work to minimize this footprint. We follow the Greenhouse Gas Protocol (GHG Protocol), addressing both direct and indirect emissions from energy use, as well as indirect emissions across our supply chain.
At the same time, we recognize that our own climate footprint is relatively small. Our primary asset lies in our skilled employees – their knowledge is what drives us forward and shapes who we are as a company. And knowledge has a very low climate impact.
By handprint, we refer to all the automation we continuously deliver in terms of long-lasting solutions that operate around the clock for many years. By selecting the right energy-efficient components and consistently focusing on energy efficiency in our programming, we make our systems more energy-efficient. This results in lower operating costs for our customers and contributes to more efficient production. This is our greatest contribution to reducing climate impact.
Through our Green Move and Green Know services, we also enable measurement and follow-up of continuous improvements. We proactively propose and implement energy-efficiency measures, while also helping reduce unplanned downtime caused by unexpected repairs.
GreenMove focuses on optimizing robots’ motion patterns. Using ABB’s simulation environment, RobotStudio, we can work with motion optimizations aimed at reducing energy consumption.
